Michael Pontello, M.A.

Michael has been practicing marriage and family therapy in the state of Texas for 15 years; ten of those years she had the joy of supervising associates on their path to becoming fully licensed clinicians. 

She immersed herself in Collaborative-Dialogic Practices, a theory founded at HGI which is a client-centered approach to therapy. 

As a member of HGI’s faculty, Michael has trained others in CDP. During her time at HGI Michael worked with a variety of communities from supporting families at the Attorney General’s office, to working in public school settings, as well as crisis response to micro and macro-level traumatic events.

Michael graduated from the University of Houston- Clear Lake, Michael began her career at HGI Counseling Center, a non-profit serving the greater Houston area.

Michael is experienced in working with many diverse populations. She thrives in supporting all couples in the community, and clients who are navigating the aging process.

With a compassionate and collaborative approach, Michael works with clients to create a safe space for conversation and explore the many possibilities for how client’s goals can be achieved.

With a storied history in the non-profit sector, Michael has been a therapist, and supervisor, and held a role in leadership.

She has been able to experience many sides of being a therapist and connecting with people in the therapy room as well as with community leaders seeking out ways to provide mental health services.

As she navigates a new chapter, Michael is thrilled to be a part of the team at Mine Counseling PLLC.

Michael currently provides virtual sessions only which allows her to support clients all over the Lone Star State.
